Type keywords such as GP, 111, A&E, pharmacy, prescription, NHS App or moving records to filter common questions on this site. This is not a symptom checker; it simply helps you find the right guide.
NHS 111。If life is at immediate risk, call 999 or go to A&E. If you are unsure whether urgent care is needed, use NHS 111.

Search common questions
(A&E)」。You can search in Chinese or English, for example “register GP”, “NHS number”, “pharmacy”, “child”, “prescription” or “A&E”.
No exact match found. Try shorter keywords such as GP, 111, pharmacy, prescription, NHS App, moving records, blood test, test result or SAR. If urgent, do not rely on search; use 999, A&E or NHS 111.
A. 我應該去哪裡?A. Where should I go?
Start by telling apart 999, A&E, NHS 111, UTC, GP and pharmacies, so you do not get sent round the maze.
If life is at immediate risk, or there is a serious injury, loss of consciousness, chest pain, stroke signs or severe breathing difficulty, call 999 or go to A&E. This site does not assess symptoms; it simply reminds you not to stay online in an emergency.
A&E is for serious injuries and life-threatening emergencies; UTCs usually handle urgent but not life-threatening problems; NHS 111 can direct you when you are unsure what to do.
If it is not an immediate life-threatening emergency but you are unsure whether A&E is needed, use NHS 111 online or call 111. If it becomes life-threatening, call 999.
It depends on severity. For life-threatening situations call 999 or go to A&E. If unsure, NHS 111 can help direct you. NHS 111 online is generally for age 5 and over; for children under 5, call 111.
If you just need to choose the route, start with Where to Get Help. If you already know the topic, such as medicines, GP appointments or urgent care, go directly to that guide.
NHS guidance says you do not need ID, proof of address, proof of immigration status or an NHS number to register with a GP in England, although the surgery will ask for basic information.
Not necessarily. Depending on the situation, try the GP online form, phone, NHS App or the surgery’s own process. If urgent but not life-threatening, consider NHS 111 or UTC; emergencies remain 999 / A&E.
The NHS App can help manage some NHS services, including visible GP health record information, prescriptions, appointments, test results or documents. What you can see depends on GP settings and record access.
Prepare when symptoms started, how they changed, medicines used, allergies, long-term conditions, questions you want to ask, and relevant documents or photos. This helps you explain clearly in limited time.
How can I organise symptoms without entering data online?
Use the printable blank forms on the Printable Forms page and fill them in by hand. HealthRoad England does not collect, store or view your health data.
A pharmacist can advise on common minor illnesses and medicines, such as colds, sore throats, ear problems, pain, side effects or how to use medicines. If they cannot help, they can direct you elsewhere.
Pharmacy First is an NHS pharmacy service in England for seven common conditions. Whether medicine is suitable is assessed by the pharmacist under service rules.
No. Pharmacies can provide advice, certain services and medicines under defined conditions, but they cannot prescribe for everything. Serious or uncertain cases may need GP, 111, UTC, A&E or 999.
Often yes, but the medicine request usually still needs GP approval before the pharmacy can prepare it. If the App does not allow the request, contact your GP surgery.
Not always. In England, some people pay an NHS prescription charge, while others are exempt because of age, circumstances or exemption status. Fees and exemptions can change, so check NHS guidance.
If it is a medicine you are regularly prescribed, check NHS 111 emergency prescription routes or ask a pharmacy. Do not stop important medicines on your own; use 111, 999 or A&E if urgent or dangerous.
NHS。You can prepare documents before and after moving, but do not assume overseas records automatically transfer into the NHS.
What medical information should I prepare before moving to England?
Prepare diagnosis summaries, long-term condition information, operation records, medicine lists, allergy history, vaccination records, children’s red book or school vaccine records, and key test results.
Usually not as a complete automatic transfer. You can give key summaries to your GP surgery, but how they are recorded depends on the practice and clinical need.
Organise overseas vaccine dates and translations, then give them to the GP surgery after registration. UK migrant immunisation guidance explains how incomplete or uncertain schedules can be continued or caught up.
Prepare diagnoses, recent clinic summaries, generic medicine names and doses, allergies, doctor letters, test results and a safe transition plan. Register with a GP soon after arrival.
Not necessarily. What appears depends on GP record access, practice settings and record status. Do not assume overseas records or all historical information will automatically appear in the App.
An NHS GP is the NHS primary care route. A private GP is a self-pay service often used for faster consultation, second opinions or certain documents. Fees, records, referrals and follow-up may differ.
Are private GP prescriptions the same as NHS prescriptions?
Not necessarily. A private prescription is usually not charged under the NHS prescription charge system; cost depends on private service and pharmacy pricing. Ask about the cost before dispensing.
It depends on the situation and service. Some private doctors can write letters or referrals, but NHS acceptance, waiting and follow-up still depend on NHS services and clinical triage.
For example, when you want faster advice for a non-emergency issue, need documents, want another opinion, or face a long wait. For emergencies, do not use private GP instead of 999 / A&E.
F. Records, blood tests and private / NHS boundaries
One of the most confusing parts in England is that records are not always automatically shared, blood tests need a requester, and private reports do not automatically become NHS follow-up.
Do I always need a blood test form?
Not always, but many services require one. Some need a paper blood test request form, while some requests are sent electronically. Before booking or leaving home, check whether you need a printed form and whether a phone photo or email copy is accepted.
Why can I not see my blood test result in the NHS App?
請先問清楚 who 申請ed the test。
The NHS App usually shows test results that have been shared with your GP surgery. A result may have been requested by a hospital, not yet reviewed, not shared with the GP record, or held in a separate hospital portal. Start by asking who requested the test.
You can bring a private report to an NHS GP as information, but the GP may not directly take over a private test or a private doctor's plan. Interpretation and follow-up should usually be checked with the private provider first.
Do not assume so. GP practices, hospital Trusts and private clinicians may each hold different records. For a new clinician, bring your medicine list, allergies, key history, recent letters and copies of important results.
You usually request records from the organisation that holds them, such as your GP practice or the relevant hospital Trust. This is often called a Subject Access Request (SAR). The NHS App may show some records, but it is not the same as a full record copy.
Are there printable blood test or medical summary checklists?
Yes. The Printable Forms page now includes a Blood Test Appointment Checklist and a Medical Summary Sheet, so you can fill them in by hand without entering information on the website.
